A busy Darley intersection will receive a $2.4 million facelift.
Works are now under way on the upgrade of the Gisborne Road and Holts Lane intersection which services about 5000 vehicles a day.
The upgrade, which includes new line markings, a redesigned intersection and widened pedestrian refuges, aims to boost safety and improve traffic flow for the thousands of drivers that use it daily.
Buninyong MP Geoff Howard last week welcomed the start of the project which is funded under the state government’s regional road upgrades program.
“Bacchus Marsh is growing rapidly, with its population expected to more than double by 2041,” Mr Howard said.
“These works will add extra lanes on Gisborne Road to increase capacity, including adding a dedicated lane for southbound traffic to access the Western Freeway.
“Also included are upgraded footpaths; a new link on the north-western corner and a new traffic island on Holts Lane, east of Gisborne Road, to separate traffic lanes and improve safety.
